700 students on strike

Yesterday’s student strike and march through town to Pier Head has been reported in The Guardian, where it’s the Home News lead, and in last night’s Echo, which had this:

More than 700 students of Liverpool University went on strike today in support of ten students who were disciplined for taking part in the sit-in six weeks ago.

The walk-out students joined the thousands of workers who formed the May Day march through the city culminating at a meeting at the Pier Head.

Militants picketed the Senate House and student leader Jack Straw addressed a mass meeting, while three of the disciplined students were having their appeals heard.
