Peer told ‘stay away’

Several national dailies report the protest last night against Lord Salisbury.  This is from the Daily Mail’s account:

[…] Lord Salisbury said: “A deputation came to me and objected to statements I had made on central and southern Africa.  They said I had given financial and political support to white rule.  This is not true.  I have always been a multiracialist.  I have always wanted people to express their own views, but I thought this was discourteous.  I do not think it represents the views of the majority.”

The Daily Express headline is: ‘Race row students stop Lord Salisbury having a ball’.

The Telegraph has the story under the headline: ‘Threats keep Salisbury from students’ Dinner’

The Mirror has the story too: ‘Angry students bar a peer in varsity race row’.
