The Princess Alexandra protest

15 May 1969: more than 1000 tenants and students protest at the official opening of Senate House by Princess Alexandra. The protest concerns the revelations, in Guild Gazette the previous December, that the University owns slum properties in which residents are living in appalling conditions. Through the spring of 1969, the Abercromby Tenants Association, supported by student activists, campaign to get families rehoused.
